Free parking is available near the courthouse along Second Street and Main Street, and in the Pomeroy Parking Lot along the Ohio River. Please do not park in spots reserved for courthouse staff or law enforcement.

All cell phones must be turned off in the courtroom. Phones may not be used to record or photograph proceedings without a prior written request and a court order, and may be confiscated from anyone who violates that policy. Drug Court participants may not carry phones or pagers to court or to program offices.

Submit a written request to the Court Reporter's office. Fees apply based on the length of the transcript and required turnaround time. See the Transcript Requests page for details.

Business casual attire is recommended. Shorts, tank tops, hats, and clothing with offensive language are not permitted in the courtroom.

All case filings are accepted by the Meigs County Clerk of Courts, not by the Common Pleas Court directly. Visit the Clerk's office or their website to file documents and pay fees.

No. By law, court staff cannot give legal advice or assist in completing forms. We can point you to general resources, but for case-specific guidance you should consult an attorney or one of the legal aid organizations listed on the Resources page.

The Common Pleas Court handles felonies, domestic relations matters between married people (with or without children), civil matters seeking more than $15,000, and administrative appeals. The Meigs County Court — a separate court — handles small claims, civil matters up to $15,000, evictions, traffic cases, criminal misdemeanors, and felony cases through the preliminary hearing. Check your paperwork for the name of the court and the judge.

The Clerks provide court forms, explain filing procedures, accept your filings, take payments for filing fees, fines, court costs, sanction fees, and restitution, and can direct you to court resources and online information. They cannot give legal advice, tell you what to write on a form, recommend whether you should file a case, tell you what evidence to present, or predict how the judge will rule.

The request must be in writing and must explain the basis for it. If you have an attorney, your attorney makes the request on your behalf. Continuances cannot and will not be granted by a phone call to the court. Both courts have electronic filing available.

All fines, sanction fees, court costs, and restitution are paid through the Clerk of Courts, not the Court. Both the Common Pleas Court and the County Court have staff who can accept payments. You may also pay online through the court's case management system, or by calling the Clerk and paying by phone.

Common Pleas Court cases — except those involving domestic violence civil protection orders — are available through the Clerk's eServices portal, linked from the Current Court Schedule and the Clerk of Courts pages on this site. Meigs County Court cases are at meigscountycourt.org. Both courts have docket images available online.

Yes. Two dogs, Senna and Liberty, are part of the Common Pleas Court staff and may enter the courtroom and interact with parties, attorneys, witnesses, and visitors. If you have allergies or are afraid of dogs, tell the Clerk of Courts when you arrive and the dogs will be kept away from you.
